MMIC Solutions ships 94GHz Direct Detection Receivers

Malvern UK. 2nd May 2007. MMIC Solutions Ltd. has announced the first shipments to customers of the latest MSi105 direct detection receiver for security imaging applications at 94GHz. President and CEO Rodger Sykes said; "Shipment of the MSi105 modules is a significant milestone for MMIC Solutions for three reasons: on-time delivery to customers, leading edge performance, and excellent manufacturing yield.”

Millimeter waves are naturally occurring electromagnetic emissions with (as the name implies) a wavelength of the order of a millimeter. Able to penetrate a few millimeters of most clothing fabrics, imaging using millimeter waves allows detection and identification of metallic and non-metallic weapons, concealed under clothing.

“The MSi105 was designed to suit a customer’s specific security imaging system” added Sykes, “but has a standard waveguide interface and includes an on-board power supply allowing operation from a single 5V supply. This makes it a very easy to use and interface, so we have supplied several customers keen to evaluate our products.”
